Review It - Fire - Rock Band
FIRE - a 5 piece, up and coming rock band from Malta released their debut album "Ignite" in August 2006. The album contains something for everyone. Whether you are a rock or metal fan, you will be surprised at the variations on this album. Covering an extensive range Fire have captured numerous different resonance's, incorporate the genre sound of Deep Purple, Whitesnake and Def Leppard, to name but a few. Fire have also integrated with this their own unique sound. Once listened to, this album undeniably leaves you with an appetite to indulge on repeat.
Ignite contains 10 tracks:
Get Out Of My Way, Make Believe, Fire Flyer, Taste This (Rock N Roll), Manhunter, Goin’ Down, Behind Your Eyes, Away For Good, Home N Dry &
Conspiracy Theory.
The opening track “Get Out Of My Way” is an excellent example of the capabilities Fire have of capturing the classic rock themes of Rainbow, Whitesnake and Deep Purple including a very catchy chorus, this track truly justifies Fire’s enthusiasm. “Taste This (Rock N Roll)” is very catchy and a downright rocking track. The ballad “Goin’ Down” is very melodic with similarities to early Def Leppard, Kenneth Calleja vocals undoubtedly shine. Catering for the followers of heavy metal, “Behind Your Eyes” is an exceptional example to the heavier side of the band. The final track “Conspiracy Theory” is well worth the wait. The passionate guitar riffs and drumming quality are breathtaking coupled with exceptional vocals. This album is a must for every rock fan.
Once listed to, Ignite protrudes the bands lyrical achievements, complimented with excellent guitar work, great sounding bass and thundering drums but don’t just take my word for their musical talents; check them out for yourself on their myspace website where you will find four tracks from the Ignite album.

An ardent advocate and passionate performer of contemporary music, Maltese flutist Laura Falzon based in New York, is always collaborating with composers from around the world on new works for flute in a variety of combinations ranging from the conventional flute solo, flute & piano, and flute & orchestra, to those with electroacoustics as well as with non-western instruments like the zheng, sitar, tabla, yoruba drums and tanpura. As a result, she has commissioned and premiered many flute works including Padma Phool by the Anglo-Indian composer John Mayer (mostly known as the founder of Indo-Jazz Fusion and, in the flute world, for his flute Concerto for Sir James Galway: Mandala Ki Raga Sangeet); and other composers such as Eddie McGuire, Ed Bland, Charles Comilleri, Akin Euba, Roy Travis and Geoff Poole.
