Review It - L-Istrina 2008
L-Istrina 2008 is being organized by the Public Broadcasting Services Limited. This year PBS has entrusted the running of the event to MK Leisure and Take 2.
MK Leisure Ltd has been established since 2005, and is the exclusive operator of Montekristo Estates in Hal Farrug, while Take 2 is the brainchild of Abigail Mallia and Carlos Debattista.
The team on this year’s edition of L-Istrina is made up of Tony Paris, Keith Zerafa, Jack Vella, Jon Mallia and Stephanie Bondin, together with a large number of volunteers.
Christmas is a time of goodwill. We start thinking of what presents we are going to buy for our loved ones as this special time draws near. This year we would like to ask you to go one step further in thinking about the less fortunate people on our island.
For more than a decade one particular national event has been a milestone in Maltese Charity Campaigns. The culmination of this crusade is a 12-hour television program aired on state television (TVM).
L-Istrina is held under the auspices of The President of the Republic of Malta through the Community Chest Fund, which itself receives 50% of all collected funds. These funds are distributed among the needy and the less fortunate (persons with disability, children suffering from cancer, the homeless, etc.). The remaining 50% are distributed among other philanthropic organizations (still to be defined).
