The unit is entirely manned by unpaid volunteers and its main scope is to provide emergency assistance to the local authorities in national emergencies or when requested. E.F.R.U. embraces the principles of teamwork, excellence, honesty and integrity amongst its members to improve their quality of life and that of the persons we assist. The Malta Kennel Club is the oldest canine organisation in Malta. Holding a reciprocal agreement with the Kennel Club (UK) and is an associate member of the Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI). The Malta Kennel Club organises Championship Dog Shows and the only INTERNATIONAL dog show in Malta, attracting dogs from all over Europe to the island every November. The objectives of the Malta Kennel Club are to improve in every way the general improvement of dogs and to carry out and control the registration of dogs, transfer of ownership, production of pedigrees and certificates. The Malta Kennel Club also fosters in young people the knowledge of dogs and their welfare and acceptable standards of personal behavior.
