  • Dolgellau Church and Father Francis Scalpello
This site contains the story of Father Francis Scalpell (Scalpello), why he settled in Dolgellau (Wales) and how he managed to build the present Church of Our Lady of Sorrows. The Church bears the Maltese Cross on top, in rememberance of Father Scalpello's homeland, which he loved to the end of his days. Despite his efforts, Father Scalpell is not very well known in Malta, while the people of his Dolgellau parish know little about the background of this Maltese priest, who died in August 1970.
