Local band shortlisted for London's XFM radio competition:
Winner will record a single at Abbey Road Studios
Another Maltese band is making the headlines lately.
Up and coming JANE AIR is made up of 23 year-old Adam Eyre (vocals and guitars), Mike Scicluna (23, bass) and Ivan Cezek (27, drums) and have been around for the last 3 years. Citing influences from the likes of Bowie, the Clash and Joy Division, Jane Air have been in and out of the studios recording their own songs which have found an appreciative local audience …. but not just! Determined to further their careers beyond these shores, the band started sending their promo-recordings abroad - and the response was great!
Early 2000 saw JANE AIR signing a management deal with T&A Management of London, and in July, JANE AIR played the Rock Garden in London and King's Head in Fulham. Both concerts were well-attended by various record label representatives, and the response from both the audience and the music industry was encouraging.
Now JANE AIR have been picked by London's Xfm Radio for the 'Project X' competition.
PROJECT X
Each fortnight six new bands' demos are selected by Xfm's Claire Sturgess from entries sent into Project X. Demos are be played in part on The Works every Thursday between 20:00-21:00 and streamed in full on the Xfm web-site. During the two weeks following each new selection listeners are asked to vote for their favourite, and one band will then go through to the final, where a panel of judges will select the band to receive the grand prize. The winner gets to record a single at the legendary Abbey Road as well as a photo session.

2) Go to 'VISIT MINISITE NOW'
3) Run the mouse over the arrow pointing down on the right of the screen for options to scroll down.
4) Click on 'VOTE & WIN'
5) Scroll down and you will find JANE AIR at the very end....then obviously click the 'VOTE' box and fill in the rest.
The competition runs for only two weeks - the closing date is 22 February.
