Studies:
Primary and Secondary education at St. Aloysius College in B'Kara

June 1964 Successfully completed a 4 year Degree of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Maltese

Summer 1967 Successfully concluded a 2 year course leading to the conferring of the Degree of Master of Arts in November 1967

September 1967 Granted a one year British Council scholarship. Studied Semitic Studies at Darwin University College in Cambridge, England.


NOTE: Darwin University College in Cambridge, England gave Guze' Cardona the opportunity to return to Cambridge for an additional year to read for a Ph.D in Maltese.
Guze' Cardona was unable to attend as his employer refused him paid study leave.
Guze' Cardona's attempts to convince his employer otherwise also had an adverse effect on his teaching postings; as result, he ended his teaching career teaching at the lowest secondary school level.

Teaching:
26th January 1948 Joined Department of Education as a Substitute Teacher in Primary Schools

15th September 1958 Became Regular Teacher

7th December 1959 Received Appointment as Master. Commenced teaching at the Lyceum (up to 1960 when teaching was interrupted to pursue a BA Course at University).

October 1964 Resumed teaching and taught Maltese at Secondary Technical School for Boys at Naxxar, Lyceum and Junior College (up to 1967 when teaching was interrupted to attend a scholarship in England).

October 1968 Appointed part time member of staff at St. Michael's Teachers' Training College (males)Appointed full time member of staff at Mater Admirabilis Teachers' Training College (females)Appointed part time lecturer at University of Malta

1973 - 1974 On Lecturing Staff - Malta College of Education

1st February 1974 Appointed Teacher Grade II

12th July 1976 Appointed Assistant Head of Department for Maltese (Grade III)

1976 - 1983 Continued to teach Maltese at:
  1. Upper Secondary School
  2. B'Kara Girls' Secondary School; and
  3. Gzira Boys' Secondary School
30th March 1983 Retired on reaching age 61
