This firm created by Salvatore Demanuele 100 years ago is now in the third generation. In 1898 he opened up shop at 129 St, John Str, VALLETTA. From this location he used to service all types of watches and clocks. In this process he had to manufacture parts for these repairs, as 'spare parts' had yet to be created.
With this experiece and great aptitude in the 1920s he designed and manufactured the said church clocks, which are unique and still in perfect working condition. To mention just one feature, the Zabbar clock strikes the 'Ave Maria' every four hours. This can be set to strike every hour for feast days, or completly silenced for days such as Good Friday.
Salvatore who passed away in 1950 handed over to Paul ( his youngest son ). Although Paul only kept up the business on a part time basis, he kept up the sterling service our clients were used to. No time piece was too complicated for him.
In 1972 Paul passed this business to his youngest son Charles. Keeping up the good reputation while heavily investing on modern technology, the service on all time pieces is still a major parts of today's routine. Also now this is the only shop for watch and clocks parts on the islands. Since 1994 in a new larger shop at No. 3 in the same street ( opposite the old place ) this venture was expanded by importation of wall and alarm clocks.
